HERES’ THE SKIER’S FORECAST FOR THE MIDATLANTIC AND SOUTHEAST RESORTS:

Nothing really eventful in the foreseeable future that isn’t wet and warm…

For WISP, TIMBERLINE and CANAAN…. Looking warm with upper 40’s and lower 50’s for daytime highs into the New Year. Sunshine by day until New Year’s Eve when rain showers (60%) move in and stick around to ring in 2007 on a wet note. Overnight lows will only get as cold as the middle and upper 30’s into next week… so that means any precipitation will be of the liquid variety across the board.

At SNOWSHOE…. A very mild pattern for the next several days with lower and middle 40’s for daytime highs into the New Year. Sunshine by day until New Year’s Eve with rain showers (60%) and linger into New Year’s day. The mercury will dip into the middle and upper 30’s at night…. to warm for any rain event to make the change over to The White Stuff.

WINTERGREEN, VA & OBER GATLINBURG, TN – Mostly sunny skies and clear nights into the weekend with afternoon highs in the low and middle and upper 50’s and temperatures in the 30’s at night. A 50% chance of rain moves in for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day with highs in the upper 40’s and lower 50’s for Wintergreen and upper 50’s for Ober Gatlinburg. Lows Sunday night and Monday night will only fall into the middle and upper 30’s.

HERE’S THE OUTLOOK FOR THE WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS….

Sunny skies to wrap up the last work week of 2006 with highs in the low 50’s. Clear skies for Friday night with a low around 33 degrees. Kicking off the Holiday weekend with clouds on the increase for late Saturday and highs in the low 50’s. Showers move in (50%) overnight with temperatures bottoming out around 40 degrees. More rain (70%) for New Year’s Eve and very mild readings in the lower 50’s. Sunday night will be wet and too warm for a rain-to-snow change over (40-ish). We’ll start off 2007 on Monday with a 60% rain chance and highs in the upper 40’s.
