Snowshoe Mountain Resort and the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre have partnered for the region’s most unique start to the winter season. The Snowshoe Open at Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre will take place November 13th, offering the region’s skiers and rider the opportunity to hone their skills, before the slopes open atop Snowshoe Mountain. Liberty University’s Lynchburg, VA campus is home to the only Snowflex surface in the United States, providing skiers and rider’s the most advanced technology for year-round enjoyment of winter sports. The Snowshoe Open will feature a rail jam and big air competition, as well as great prizes and entertainment.
The fun will begin at Noon on November 13th and will continue throughout the night. Skiers and riders will show off their best tricks during an open afternoon jam session. Competition finalists for both Big Air and Rail Jam will be chosen by a panel of select judges. Beginning at 10:30 p.m., finalists will showcase their best tricks in the event finals, with great prizes and bragging rights up for grabs at this inaugural event.
Liberty University’s Snowflex Centre has been open since late summer, and thousands of skiers and riders have taken advantage of the unique opportunity to participate in their favorite winter activities in any season. Snowshoe Mountain Resort, located in West Virginia, is the region’s largest winter resort destination, and plans a mid-November Opening for the 2009-2010 winter season. The two facilities have teamed up for the Snowshoe Opening, reminding Snowflex enthusiasts that the “real” snow season is just around the corner in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Event entry is free with the purchase of a Liberty University Snowflex Centre lift ticket. Registration will begin at 11am on November 13th at the Snowflex facility. The facility will be closed to the public beginning at 10p.m. on the day of the event. Snowshoe Mountain will also have College Season Passes available for purchase for just $219 to any event attendee with a valid college ID. A Liberty University Snowflex Centre release form must be signed by all participants, and participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent of guardian. Long sleeve shirt, pants and gloves are required attire for all participants.
