Great weather, Great Conditions, Everything’s Open! What More do you want?!

Lots of "meet ups" are happening today. Blacky, GreshamB, EastCoaster, SkiAtlanta, 2Slikstix, SkiPink Broncoboarder and 55 or so others will be meeting up at Beech Mountain today for some grilling, chillin’ and turns on the mountain. The latest NWS forecast is for sunny skies and temperatures to reach 51°. We think it will be closer to 42° or so. It’s always colder atop Beech’s 5000+ elevations.

Joe Stevens, Laura Parquette and I are planning a meetup of our own this morning atop Snowshoe Mountain’s 4848′ where the high is meant to be 31° and it is snowing. The way Joe does it is pretty much pedal to the metal top to bottom as many times as his legs will stand it before calling it a morning. That should be just about the time the masses show up on the mountain.

Making turns with friends is what it is all about. If you haven’t yet made it to the mountains this season, you really should kick yourselves in the rear. Conditions have been awesome and they should be pretty sweet today no matter where you’re planning to make some turns. Hopefully it’s with some family and friends as well.

ANOTHER CHANCE TO MAKE ONE OF OUR SUMMITS!

We had 150+ people attend the SkiNC Summit at Beech Mountain last weekend and as mentioned above – many of the messageboard members who couldn’t make it to last week’s fun planned a second meetup at Beech for today and at last count 65 +/- people are planning to invade the mountain this morning. We have one more opportunity for you guys and gals to join in on the fun.

March 4th, 5th and 6th we will hold the SkiSoutheast / Snowshoe Summit (coincidently at Snowshoe Mountain) and as of Friday we have 58 people planning to attend that fun. We’re still weeks away from March 4th so we’re likely to see that number soar to something closer to 150 or so that we’ve had the last couple of Summit weekends.

MAKE A NOTE!

If you’re thinking about making it to Snowshoe to hang out with us, that weekend is NOT going to be a typically, late season, slow weekend as The Cuervo Games of Winter will be happening that same weekend and that event has its own great following. Lodging is booking up fast and we want all who want and plan to attend the SkiSoutheast.com Summit to be able to make it.

There are still a FEW SPOTS LEFT for those who want to take advantage of FREE LIFT TICKETS FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY SKIING AND RIDING. Snowshoe is offering 25% OFF all lodging and a FREE Sunday lift pass and we’re giving away FREE SATURDAY Lifties to the first 50 attendees to sign up. (We may have a few more but don’t wait because that deal won’t last much longer!)

There promises to be a bunch of fun! There will be a 6pm Cuervo Kick-Off Party at Hoot’s Pub. There’s a 10:30pm to 1:30am Cuervo Party at The Connection Friday night and then a Cardboard Box Derby from 6pm-9pm. A NOON Tug of War contest, snow volleyball and so much more.

We’ll be capturing all the fun on video and hope to see you guys there. Nobody’s got a better deal going than the SkiSoutheasters…so sign up, book now and join us.

For more information, visit the messageboard page

You can see some videos from last weekend’s fun and past Snowshoe Summit weekends over on the Video page. www.SkiSoutheast.com/videos

We’ll be posting a lot more information and the video from last year’s summit later next week, but make plans to attend and book today because this WON’T be a slow weekend!

QUICK NOTABLES…

Even though they didn’t report it, CoCoRaHs and Fred’s General Mercantile (which is a NWS reporting statino) reported another .5" of snow atop Beech in the last 24 hours to take Beech to 115.3" officially on the season. That is "only" 35" ABOVE AVERAGE for an entire season and we still have several weeks of winter left! Beech made snow as well so conditions ought to be awesome for those headed that way this morning.

It’s a little colder the further north you look this morning. We’re looking at a 25° reading at Appalachian Ski Mountain at 7am, 30° at Cataloochee, 20° at Beech, Massanutten in Virginia is showing a 16° reading and Snowshoe is showing 12° this AM.

Canaan Valley reported another 3.7" of snow in the last 24 hours. David Lesher’s weather station is now showing 148.6" on the season!

Man my internet is SLOW here this morning so I’m going to end it here. See you guys on the flip side of the day.

Email me at [email protected]  and tell me about the snow in your area. Send pics when you can!
