Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area to Offer Deep Discounts to First-Time Skiers and Snowboarders During January’s Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month

DAVIS, W.Va., December 30, 2016 – Celebrating January’s Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month, Canaan Valley Resort is offering special prices for first-time skiers and riders Mondays through Thursdays throughout the month. A complete package featuring lift ticket, equipment rental and beginner lesson will be available for $69 for adults and $49 for children seven to 12. Children must be nine years old to snowboard.

Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area is popular with novice and advanced skiers alike.

“Our ski and board instructors have gone through a lot of training to make sure your first on-snow experience is a great one,” said Warren Wik, Canaan’s snow sports director. “They are all excited to share their love of skiing and snowboarding and to encourage people to learn to enjoy the winter months by learning a new lifetime sport – something the whole family can enjoy together.”

Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area features a teaching trail with a very wide and gentle slope as well as a “magic carpet” surface lift. Students learn about equipment and how to turn, stop and ride the lift. Many students learn to ride the chair lift during their first lesson.

Additionally, Canaan is participating in the World’s Largest Ski & Snowboard Lesson as part of an attempt by resorts throughout the United States and Canada to establish a Guinness World Record for a simultaneous lesson.

A magic carpet transports skiers up the beginners slope.

The World’s Largest Lesson takes place on Friday, January 6 at 1:00 pm. The first 20 people who sign up in advance by calling ski school will receive a free lift ticket, equipment rental and lesson. After the first 20 spots are filled, the resort will offer a $49 adult price/$29 junior price to anyone who wishes to participate.
