HERES’ THE SKIER’S FORECAST FOR THE MIDATLANTIC AND SOUTHEAST RESORTS:

Time for the umbrella….looking for some snow up North by the end of Sunday

For WISP, TIMBERLINE and CANAAN…. A wet Friday with rain likely, mainly in the morning with a high in the upper 50’s. Some rain howers will linger into the overnight (30%) with very mild temperatures in the low 40’s. Still a bit wet Saturday with a 30% rain chance and highs around 53 degrees. Jumping ahead to Sunday night, rain showers may mix with and change over to light snow with temperatures in the upper 20’s.

At SNOWSHOE…. Here in Rainshoe – um, I mean Snowshoe… we’ll have a wet day with a high of 55 degrees to end the first week of 2007. A few isolated showers for tonight (20%) with a low around 40 degrees. Look for off and on scattered showers on Saturday (same odds as Friday night) with temperatures in the middle 40’s. Late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, there may be a rain/snow mixture before rain returns later in the day as the mercury climbs into the low 40’s.

WINTERGREEN, VA & OBER GATLINBURG, TN – Rain is likely (80%), especially the first half of the day with temperatures around 62 degrees. Some lingering scattered showers for the overnight period with mild lows in the middle and upper 40’s. Partly cloudy skies return for Saturday with highs in the lower 60’s. Showers return for Sunday (70%) with temperatures in the low 50’s.

HERE’S THE OUTLOOK FOR THE WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS….

It’s a wet end to the week (70%) with a rumble of thunder not out of the question as temperatures climb into the upper 50’s. Showers will end late tonight with mild temperatures in the middle 40’s. Sunshine is back to kick off the first weekend of 2007 with the mercury still in the upper 50’s. A 70% rain chance returns for Sunday with highs in the low 40’s.
