HERES’ THE SKIER’S FORECAST FOR THE MIDATLANTIC AND SOUTHEAST RESORTS:

For WISP, TIMBERLINE and CANAAN…. . New Year’s Eve will bring rain showers (50%) ahead of an approaching front with temperatures in the middle 40’s. More rain Sunday night into New Year’s Day (80%) with temperatures in the upper 40’s. By Monday night, rain showers change to light snow as temperatures fall into the middle 20’s. Just enough lingering moisture by Tuesday for a chance of scattered snow flurry with temperatures in the upper 30’s. Sunny skies return for Wednesday with highs around 44 degrees.

At SNOWSHOE…. Rain likely as we say "adios" to 2006. A 90% rain chance with highs in the upper 40’s. Ringing in the New Year on a wet note with lows Sunday night around 40 and more rain on Monday (50%) with middle 40’s.. By Monday night, rain showers change to light snow as temperatures fall into the middle 20’s. Tuesday looks partly cloudy with highs around 42 degrees.

WINTERGREEN, VA – New Year’s Eve will bring rain showers (50%) with a high in the low 40’s. Rain continues on New Year’s Day with a high in the upper 50’s. Sunshine returns for Tuesday with highs in the upper 40’s and lower 50’s.

OBER GATLINBURG, TN – A wet and warm New Year’s Eve with a 90% rain chance and temperatures in the upper 50’s. The rain continues Sunday night with lows around 43 degree. A lingering morning shower for New Year’s Day with decreasing afternoon clouds and highs in the low 50’s.. Sunshine returns for Tuesday with highs in the upper 40’s and lower 50’s.

HERE’S THE OUTLOOK FOR THE WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS….

Likely rain for New Year’s Eve across the High Country with a high in the upper 40’s. Warm and wet (90% rain chance) for Sunday night with a low around 40. Rain showers will be lingering into New Year’s Day (40%) with a high around 53 degrees. Sunshine is back for Tuesday and Wednesday with low to middle 40’s on the mercury.
