I will be heading up to Wisp Resort in Maryland for some fun this weekend, and thus I am beginning this morning’s report with news from Garrett County.

Wisp Report is at 16° this morning and making snow. They have great conditions and 28 of 35 trails open with 6 of 9 lifts in operation. They also have their Mountain Coaster and Snow Tubing park in operation as well. Conditions couldn’t be a whole lot better right now! If you’re at Wisp this weekend, look us up. Wisp has invited some media types, (television, newspaper, etc) and I’ll be wearing a rust/red Spyder Jacket and Atomic SX-11 skis. Come make some turns with us!

The weather at Wisp should be sweet for this weekend. There’s some well timed light snow in the forecast for Friday night and Saturday should be cold with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens to 20° or so. More of the same on Sunday with a notch milder temps!

Canaan Valley is a COLD 10° this morning and the forecast reflects some chances of snow on Friday so conditions will be sweet at the Tucker County resorts this weekend! They offer 14 of 39 trails today for DAY SKIING only on Thursday and then day and night for Friday and the Weekend.

Snowshoe Mountain is at 15° this morning and making snow in selected areas and open with 59 trails (all except Lower Shays) and Groomed and Frozen Granular conditions.

This weekend the infamous Cuervo Games of Winter return with plenty of on and off the snow fun. On Monday, the ultimate hangover cure, and the region’s longest ski and snowboard race, The Cupp Run Challenge takes place. Call 1-877-441-4FUN and get up there!

Timberline Resort is showing 14° this morning and although they have not updated their report as yet, we think that they have the same 28 of 37 trails open for today with GREAT conditions.

Winterplace Resort has been able to just put "DITTOS" on their last five or six snow reports as they have EVERYTHING OPEN (100%) with great snowmaking and Groomed conditions on all 28 trails. They also have terrain parks, and a huge snow tubing park for your enjoyment!

VIRGINIA SKI RESORT NEWS

Bryce Resort made snow for the first time in a few days and they are 100% open with terrain park and snow tubing as well.

Massanutten Resort is showing 16° this morning and they made snow and still have great conditions on 11 of 14 trails, snow tubing and the CMB Terrain Park is open as well.

Wintergreen Resort is at 26° and made snow as well. They are offering 23 of 25 trails and Anna Marie writes, "UPPER WILD TURKEY AND ADVANCED TERRAIN PARK EXPECTED TO OPEN FOR THIS WEEKEND!" They also offer their snow tubing park as well!

TENNESSEE SKI RESORT NEWS

Ober Gatlinburg is reporting 30° this morning and they also made snow and have 5 of 8 trails open and ice skating as well.

NORTH CAROLINA RESORT NEWS

Highway 184 Webcam is BACK!!!

We want to thank Mike and Susan Brown for the assist on getting the Highway 184 camera back running. The previous tenant at our Banner Elk Webcam location moved and the new guys juts moved in and allowed us to coordinate an effort to get it back up and running this morning!

The location is the same, but we repositioned the camera a bit to afford us a "taller" view of Beech Mountain and the peaks above Banner Elk so that we can see some snows atop the mountain, fall colors during that season and yet still get the road view for all of you who emailed us about missing this great shot.

We can now even zoom all the way in to see the gazebo atop Beech Mountain at the Oz area. Click here to see> Banner Elk WebCam

Appalachian – 24° – Darn they look in GREAT shape this morning! They made snow and are 100% open for skiing, snowboarding, two terrain parks and ice skating. On a scale of one to ten, conditions are at a "9" and only six inches or so of natural powder would take them to a ten.

Cataloochee – 20° – 10 of 14 trails open and they made snow. They have their popular Tube World open today as well as some terrain features. Don’t forget to join the Cat Crew on Thursday nights for the Cataloochee Challenge Cup Race Series. It’s a BLAST according to all of those who have written us.

Hawksnest – 15° was the low this morning and at 8am it is 21° and they are still making snow. They look sweet this morning as they did some nice grooming and strategic snowmaking and they have 10 of 12 trails open with the Terrain Park open and tubing as well.

Sapphire Valley is CLOSED on Thursdays.

Ski Beech – 24° – They are making snow as temps allow and have 13 of 15 trails open with only Upper and Lower White Lightning not open as yet. Terrain Park afficienados need to remember that there is a Red Baron Park Thursday Night Rail Jam at Beech tonight.

Gil Adams writes, "This week will be the first time (weather depending) we will be having an open session on ALL our features! The format remains the same, 1 ½ hours with as many laps as possible to impress the judges and the other competitors. With the crowds increasing every week, we believe this week will be no exception. The setup is the same registration and lift tickets available in The Red Baron Room with awards in The Beech Tree Restaurant. With tons of great prizes available."

Sugar Mountain – 22.6 – They are making snow and 100% open for skiing, snowboarding, tubing, ice skating and probably about anything you have in mind. Just ask! There’s lots to do at Sugar and the conditions are phenomenal. We watched Sugar doing their normal great job of grooming this morning via the cams.

Wolf Ridge Ski Resort – 23° – Open to the top with 16 of 20 trails open. There is no evidence of snowmaking on their webcams but conditions are very good and they also have their snow tubing and terrain park open as well.

WEATHER UPDATES…

We received new videos from Brad and Matthew yesterday and we’ll post those for you this morning. In the meantime…

Look for a perfect weekend of skiing weather with sunny skies and highs in the 40s with lows in the 20s.

Looks like there will be a mild couple of days Monday and Tuesday with some rain in the forecast, but Wednesday things turn colder with SNOW SHOWERS and highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s. This has been a great run of cold weather and the snow comes in with nice timing as well!

Enjoy your day…

Until Next time…
