(Beckley, West Virginia) – Winterplace Ski Resort will begin offering skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing seven days a week on Saturday, December 13th – for the 2008 – 2009 Ski Season. Winterplace will open with 12 trails and 4 lifts for skiing and riding. Winterplace’s Early Season Schedule follows:
• Open – Saturday, December 13h through Friday, December 19th from 9am to 4:30pm.
• Regular Season Hours and Rates Begin – Saturday, December 20th, 2008 from 8am to 10pm.
• Weekday Hours of Operation: 9am to 10pm
• Weekend Hours of Operation: 8am to 10pm
• Snowtubing will be opening at a later date, please call or log on to Winterplace.com for up to date information.
“Winterplace has expanded the ski resort for the sixteenth consecutive year” says Terry Pfeiffer, President of Winterplace Ski Resort. “Winterplace has increased their snowmaking power again this season by adding additional snowmaking equipment including fully automated snow guns and that has helped opening as much terrain as possible”, says Terry Pfeiffer.
Winterplace has added additional top of the line Rossignol skis and snowboards to the rental equipment fleet.
With the Winterplace Central Reservations Service, guests have the ability to reserve everything from lodging to lift tickets with one simple toll free phone call. Lodging can be arranged at Winterplace’s sister resort, The Resort at Glade Springs and other fine lodging facilities in the area.
“Our goal is to provide the finest skiing and resort experience in the Southeast, During the past sixteen years, we’ve made numerous improvements and additions to Winterplace to insure that skiers and snowboarders of all levels have a great experience skiing and riding at Winterplace,” says Pfeiffer.
Winterplace offers 9 lifts, 28 trails, a terrain park, and a snowtubing park with 2 Super Carpet lifts when the resort is 100 percent open. The rental shop features top–of-the-line Rossignol Shaped Skis and Rossignol Snowboards, plus a Demo Center. A full service Resort Center and a 10,000 square foot mid-mountain facility, The MountainHouse.
Learn-To-Ski / Snowboard Packages are offered for first time skiers and boarders. The Learn-To-Ski / Snowboard Package includes a 90 minute group lesson, rental equipment and beginner lift ticket.
