A lot of you guys have emailed about tubing. All that we can tell you is that the mild temps over the last few weeks have taken their toll on resorts and they will be focusing their snowmaking FIRST on the skiable terrain and then will work on tubing hills. However, there are a few exceptions.
Hawksnest Resort puts a lot of emphasis on tubing and they will most likely shoot to have tubing going MAYBE Saturday…but Sunday is more likely. Call ahead.
Cataloochee’s Tony’s Tube World – Cataloochee made this announcement regarding their tubing operation:
"Tube World and Wee Bowl Snowplay Area located in Maggie Valley, across from Ghost Town, four miles from the ski area is now on its regular operating schedule of Thursday through Sunday and will not reopen until Thursday, January 13 at 4pm. With our current weather pattern we ask all persons planning on coming to Tube World on Thursday please check back with us by Wednesday, January 12 for an update."
Scaly Mountain Tubing – Gene Head at Scaly faxed us and reports that they will NOT be open Friday Night but look to open on Saturday if at all possible. Call ahead.
