HERES’ THE SKIER’S FORECAST FOR THE MIDATLANTIC AND SOUTHEAST RESORTS:

HAPPY NEW YEAR…

For WISP, TIMBERLINE and CANAAN…. Some early morning showers for New Year’s Day (60%) with a west wind around 10 mph and lingering clouds with just a peak or two of sun here and there. Highs will be in the upper 40’s. Enough leftover moisture to squeeze out some snow showers Monday night with lows in the middle 20’s… mainly a dusting to a half inch. A bit blustery for Tuesday with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the middle 30’s.

At SNOWSHOE…. Some leftover scattered showers from 2006 for New Year’s Day (30%) with a high around 50 degrees and mostly cloudy skies. A 50% chance of showers Monday night changing to light snow as temperatures fall into the middle 20’s…a dusting to an inch possible. Sunshine is back for Tuesday with temperatures in the upper 30’s.

WINTERGREEN, VA – A wet start to 2007 with a 70% rain chance before noon, then mostly cloudy with a high around 56 degrees. Clouds are on the way out by Monday night with lows in the upper 20’s. Tuesday will be sunny with highs in the middle and upper 40’s.

OBER GATLINBURG, TN – A dry start to the New Year with clouds on the decrease and temperatures in the middle 40’s. A little on the windy side with gusts up to 25 mph from the west. Partly cloudy skies for Monday night with lows in the upper 20’s. Sunshine is back in the saddle for Tuesday with warmer temperatures in the lower 50’s.

HERE’S THE OUTLOOK FOR THE WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS….

Carrying over some rain showers (30%) from the Old Year until around lunch time Monday. Gusty winds around 30 mph from the west with highs in the upper 40’s. Scattered evening showers may redevelop and change over to snow with lows in the middle 20’s…. with somewhere between a dusting to an inch of accumulation possible. Tuesday will be blustery with a northwest wind gusting to around 30 mph at times. Skies will be partly cloudy with highs in the lower and middle 40’s.
