The Southeast and Mid Atlantic ski and snowboarding season began on Halloween Day when Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley, North Carolina and Sugar Mountain Resort in Banner Elk, North Carolina got things going. Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia closed the season on April 7th with 33 trails still open with great coverage.
