SKI, SKATE AND SWIM THIS WINTER AT THE HOMESTEAD

Ice skating before Thanksgiving, skiing by mid-December, and outdoor swimming all winter long at new Allegheny Springs Winter Wonderland

The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia debuts Allegheny Springs Winter Wonderland this November. The newly renovated 3,000-acre resort in the Allegheny Mountains of southwest Virginia will offer sports on the resort’s historic downhill ski area by mid-December (weather permitting) and ice-skating and swimming at Allegheny Springs Winter Wonderland.

The Homestead made Southern skiing a reality in 1959, opening the region’s original downhill ski area. New this winter, The Homestead will open a Rossignol Experience Center, the first in Virginia.  With more than 45 acres and nine well-maintained trails, the slopes are perfect for beginners and experienced skiers. The Homestead offers 100 percent snowmaking when natural snow isn’t available, rental equipment, “Little Penguins” day programs for children and private and group ski and snowboarding instruction at the Sepp Kober Ski School.

Allegheny Springs Winter Wonderland is new this season and will offer ice skating and swimming throughout the colder months.  Full-day and half-day ice skating passes as well as skate rentals are available.  Hotel guests can take a dip in the steamy waters at the heated, spring-fed outdoor pool and relax on chaise lounges on the warmed deck surrounded by mountain landscape. The nearby Allegheny Springs Grille will be open all winter serving hot cocoa and snacks.
