264 SkiNCers Invade Beech Mountain Today! Great Weather Invades all of the Southeast’s Ski Areas!

Guys check the snow report for the conditions as I’m headed to the 6th Annual SkiNC Summit going on today at Ski Beech. We’ll be up there at 8:30am and the fun really gets started with the group photo shoot at 11:45am or so at the View Haus deck at the bunny slope by the cafeteria, etc.

From that point forward throughout the day there will be loads of fun with a cookout out on the deck, live entertainment inside and we think that Talia and the gang at Beech will have a PA system setup out there to keep the flow going. There’s face painting for the kids and all sorts of prizes and items that we’re giving away with donations to the Shredding the Love and Boarding for Breast Cancer fund raisers. There’s live entertainment later in the evening, a slopestyle and boardercross comp midday (SkiNC has put up a $1000 to be dispersed to the winners!) and we’ll have the auction around 4:30 inside the cafeteria area and we have nine vacations, two sets of skis, a snowboard, helmet, and BUNCH of other goodies, gloves, skiNC wear and too much to mention here – to GIVE AWAY for a donation to the charities.

The weather should be AWESOME today, no matter where you’re heading to ride today. If you’re at Beech today, look us up! You’ll have a hard time spotting 241 (as of 6:15pm Friday) fellow SkiNCers who are going to pretty much TAKE OVER Beech Mountain on Saturday.

I was listening to John Huffman of Fred’s Mercantile on Beech Mountain this morning on the radio and he said that I don’t know what’s going on but I’m seeing as many people on the mountain this weekend as last weekend for President’s Day. I don’t know about that – but I DO know "what’s happening"! It’s the "power of SkiNC" and that power is YOU GUYS!

From EIGHT guys who made the first SkiNC summit in 2005 at Hawksnest, to 164+/- attendees last season we are now seeing the ideas of a few take root to the point that we’ll have AT LEAST 264 fellow snow lovers hitting the mountain together today.

Those eight peeps were Mellow Yellow (Jasen Vioral) one of our board’s mods now; and Ga Tom will be the only two of those original eight guys at the Summit on Saturday. As Mellow said on Friday night, "We’ll need to fly the missing man formation for "The Don" TeleDave or Dave McConnell, Gresham, Bowen, Teh Bird (Snowbird aka Joe Harmon), Markyhpnc or Mark McKelvy and Duck Rabbit (whose beer company logo is on my own helmet).

If you can make it out on Saturday come on up and be there at 11:45am to do a group photo with us, make some turns and maybe even take in an adult beverage or two. Look for some awesome photo ops, video shares and more coming your way later in the evening and Sunday.

Until then…

We’re on day 82 and there are 55 more days of opportunities to enjoy the snow for the 2009-2010 ski and snowboarding season!

That’s it for today. Go enjoy the snow! Check out the Snow Report at http://www.skisoutheast.com/skireports.php  and please send us your favorite ski photos, ski videos, trip reports and comments to [email protected]
