Waiting on The Evening Cold

Here comes such much needed cold.

The roller coaster weather is keeping at it as we await a cold front to pass through today to bring us snowmaking conditions and some natural snow – a day after seeing temps in the upper 50s and 60s.

It’s crazy how up-and-down the weather has been, and it looks like it is going to stay that way for a bit.

However, the next few days look promising as far as snowmaking temperatures as the resorts get ready for that important Christmas week.

Brad Panovich provided his latest forecast last night and talked about the roller coaster weather.

Temperatures will plummet during the day as we fall from the 50s to the low 30’s and 20s by 5 p.m., and we should see the snow guns cranked up by late this afternoon.

As Brad mentioned in his video, snow totals tonight and tomorrow are looking on the lighter side with 1-2” being the norm across the region but you could see a couple of locales squeak past that 2” mark.

We will certainly take it.

The next few days look really promising as the mountain ops crews (#ThankASnowmaker) will get to do their thing and we should have great conditions as we head into the weekend.

This morning, there are 12 resorts open for skiing and riding today. One quick note on that – Wisp is on a delayed opening at a minimum this morning due to weather and conditions on the mountain. We will update the Snow Report once they provide any further updates.

You can view the list of open resorts and conditions over on the Snow Report.

That does it for today – hopefully, we will be able to talk about the growth of the resorts’ bases region-wide and some natural snow in the morning.

Until then, #ThinkSnow!
