Appalachian Ski Mountain and Sugar Mountain are open for day skiing today AND night skiing tonight! YEA! Actually several resorts made snow overnight and Cataloochee may join the open ranks on Saturday. Sugar will be open with the same two trails they had yesterday…but they will OPEN TO THE TOP tonight!

Sugarfest is on tap at Sugar this weekend. For more details on that event visit their website at www.SkiSugar.com.

It is early in the season of 2004-2005 but thus far it has been a good news-bad news kind of a startup. The good news is that several resorts made snow overnight and they will have snowmaking temps again tonight and Saturday night. All in all it will be a good "first weekend" of skiing with good temps and decent snow conditions.

The BAD NEWS is that after Sunday…we’ll see no more cold through next Thursday…and even some showers in the mix. There’s not really any winter weather on tap for the next seven days. HOWEVER, there is a Pacific Typhoon that is signalling changes in the pattern and experts are saying that will begin affecting our weather pattern in the Eastern US by mid December…which will be RIGHT ON TIME for the COLDER AND SNOWIER WINTER forecasted by NOAA, the Woolly Worm and all weather experts. BRING IT ON!
