We’re getting a LOT of email about where to ski, who’s going to have snow, who will have the most trails open. It’s AS IF you guys have not been paying attention in class. Now look, if you don’t pay attention, then HOW are we going to lead you guys in the right direction?

Snow 101, Lesson One – Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia MAY be the only resort open in the Southeast…for skiing this weekend. There IS a possibility that Appalachian and Sugar will open with one or two trail each on Saturday…and there certainly is a chance that Cataloochee and others COULD do the same. Our best bet is that App and Sugar will open…but the rest will play the waiting game and get their trails covered for the following pre-Christmas weekend crowds. We will certainly keep you posted if ANY decision is made to open by ANY resort in the region.

Snow 101, Lesson Two – Snowshoe has already announced that they will have 10 +/- trails open for skiing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Nothing "iffy" there.

Snow 101, Lesson Three – Definate skiing verses "iffy" possibilities.

Let’s do that again. WILL BE OPEN verses MAYBE being open.

ONE MORE TIME FOR YOU WHO TEND TO DRIFT OFF INTO DAYDREAMS. TEN slopes open verses one or two.

Snow 101, Lesson Four – Here’s the forecast for the next few days at Snowshoe:

Friday – Rain, Hi 47 Lo 35
Saturday – Rain/Snow, Hi 37 Lo 24
Sunday – Partly Cloudy, Hi 37 Lo 27
Monday – SNOW!!, Hi 35 Lo 18
Tuesday – Snow Showers, Hi 30 Lo 19

Final Exam Time – Where are YOU going to skiing or riding Saturday? I THOUGHT SO. Meet me on Powder Monkey!

UNTIL NEXT TIME – Think Snow!
