Snowmaking has resumed at a trio of resorts, and we could see more join the fray over the coming days.

Snowshoe Mountain, Cataloochee Ski Area, and Sugar Mountain all fired up their snowmaking equipment overnight to take advantage of the first overnight snowmaking window of the week.

It was the first time this season for Cataloochee and Sugar to make snow, while Snowshoe was able to crank things back up on Halloween.

Snowshoe and Cataloochee have been making snow mountain wide this morning, while Sugar Mountain’s efforts have been towards the summit.

It’s been a mild November so far, but it is good to see things start to turn more seasonal as there will be nearly nightly opportunities this week for the resorts to make snow.

Temperatures may be borderline at the North Carolina resorts tonight, but Tuesday night and Wednesday night will provide some fantastic snowmaking conditions across the region.

As a cherry on top, Snowshoe along with Timberline, Canaan Valley, and Wisp may see some light snow tomorrow.

It is going to be an exciting week as we await opening date announcements from Sugar Mountain and Cataloochee, while App Ski Mountain and Beech Mountain are slated to open this weekend (weather permitting) as we hit our first wave of resort openings.

Snowshoe is set to open up the winter season next week.

Could we see Cataloochee and Sugar Mountain open this week?

If they have a couple of great nights of snowmaking, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least as both resorts will try to open as soon as possible.

Stay tuned as we will keep our ears to the ground and pass along any announcements (or inside knowledge) as soon as we get it.

Until next time, #ThinkSnow and #ThinkCold!
