Sweet snow is starting to fall across the area this morning.

So far, accumulations are on the light side, but we could see up to six inches in some locations by the time it winds down late tonight.

It is all part of that excellent pattern that Brad talked about on Sunday night.

As I mentioned, accumulations are on the lighter side so far, but the fun is just beginning.

Snowshoe’s Cheat Mountain Magic produced an inch of snow yesterday, while Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain are in the inch range from this morning’s snow (as of 8 am).

Canaan Valley and Timberline received just over a half-inch of fresh snow over the past 24 hours with some light snow showers overnight.

Interestingly, they have received at least a trace of snow four of the five days so far in 2021.

Let’s hope that trend continues.

There will be fantastic conditions on the slopes today. You can view the full details over on the Snow Reports page.

As for today’s snow, it looks like the favored locations along the North Carolina and Tennessee line (Beech and Sugar) will be the big winners.

Cataloochee, Wolf Ridge, and Ober Gatlinburg could receive a solid accumulation out of the system as well.

While it won’t be the half-foot totals, the West Virginia resorts are looking at getting a couple of inches in the next 24 hours as well.

Snowmaking will also be in full force as temperatures allow. Certainly a sweet set-up for those able to hit the slopes over the coming days.

After today, our attention will turn to Thursday night and Friday’s system. It is still a tad early to talk numbers just yet, but it certainly looks promising.

The cold pattern will continue into next week with a couple more shots at natural snow.

How awesome is that?

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
