The Winter Storm (Petra) delivered as most resorts saw the wintry mix beginning yesterday late-afternoon/early evening. Wintergreen and Hot Springs (a.k.a. Homestead) saw the heaviest and quickest accumulations forming with 6″ being reported at both places! Massanutten saw 3+” (with more snow falling today, likely), and Bryce saw between 2.9″ to 4.5″, respectively, according to the nearby CoCoRah’s.

West Virginia and Maryland landed between 2″ – 3.7″. With cold temps there today, don’t expect much melting. NC was a little too far south for this one, as Beech came up with 2″, App with 1″, and Cataloochee with a Trace.

All that being said, this is a heavier/wet snow, with WET being the keyword. Much of the precip IS going to turn to sleet/rain as the day progresses . . . but no bother. Go out and slash the white wave!
