Douglas Burnett skied Winterplace in west Virginia on Tuesday – "We skied with Two of my brothers, 1 a newbie 2nd timer and another a 6 yr veteran. That place is great. The terrain is not as challenging as some, but they sure are nice. The trails, all 27, are laid out well. The snow is well groomed, and there is plenty of it. With day tickets running from 8 am to 10 pm, and 1/2 price lift ticket for Harris Teeter VIC cards (thats $1925 weekdays) it is a great value. The snow was soft, very forgiving with no icy spots. This is also the type of snow that ruts up as the day goes by. I call those kickers, yeah!

Some thin spots on woods run on top in the sun. Most of the mountain had a couple feet or more of base. Non-existant lift lines made the runs non stop. The blacks were allowed to mogul up and were great fun. Turkey chute was top to bottom mounds in perfect pattern. Just don’t loose your timing. As the sun went down, the base began to firm up and things got fast. Loose granular made for great snow tossing in the snow bowl. After 11 hours of nonstop slopes, we packed it in with 3 hours still on the clock Great place to learn, as my brother only did 1 faceplant. By the end of the day he could ski as well as my 7 year old! HAHA Duane!
Happy Trails."

Lane Passmore was at Sugar last night – "All I can say is it was a wet night on Sugar Mountain!! Definitely a night for the hard core skiers. But Sugar was able to turn on the snow guns at 8:30 pm. As you can see in the pics they needed to! But with the colder temps arriving I sure they will have everything back in tip top shape for this weekend. Talk to you guys soon……….Lane Passmore"
