Winter has returned this morning.

Snow is falling across the region, while several resorts are making snow to set the stage for an incredible day to play on the slopes.

The big winner of the morning is Timberline as they are reporting nearly seven inches of fresh natural snow, while Snowshoe received 4″ in the past 24 hours to raise their two-day total to 6″.

Pretty sweet.

David Lasher shared that the 24-hour total in Davis, WV is the first event of six inches or more this season, and it is the latest date for that to occur on record in Davis except for the winters of 2001-02 and 2018-19 in which no such event occurred the entire winter.

That is wild to think about. (Also, quick shoutout to David and his work – it is a huge help for us!)

Wisp is reporting 3″ of fresh snow.

The North Carolina resorts are seeing snow fall this morning, but accumulations so far have been on the light side – up to an inch.

We will take it.

This morning’s picture of the day is from Beech Mountain showing a nice little snowy scene. Here are a couple other snow pictures this morning.

You can check out the scenes on Resortcams.com.

As a cherry on top, a few mountain operation crews are getting to work their magic. Conditions are going to be insanely good today.

Here are a couple of notes as we head into Tuesday.

  • Massanutten has announced that they will resume operations on Thursday, March 16, and run through Sunday, March 19 from 9a-5p each day. They will have some special offers and such this weekend.
  • Sugar Mountain has bumped up its slope tally to eight this morning with three lifts running.
  • Snowshoe Mountain has announced they are adding a week to the season as their scheduled closing date is April 2.
  • Speaking of Snowshoe, they have what looks to be a super fun and flowy park set-up on Spruce with banked turns, snow features, and rails. Looks like a lot of fun.

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
