More Snow this Week?

For the most part updating the ski reports this morning just entailed updating the morning temperatures.  We’re a little cooler than this time yesterday with temps ranging from 19 up at Snowshoe to 47 at Ober.  Clouds are predicted to move into the area today with a chance of precipitation later this afternoon, tonight, and maybe tomorrow.  Wednesday is our next chance of snow and we’ll keep an eye on that.

The pictures are starting to come out from the 24 Hours at Snowshoe.  I hear one of the winning teams got in 195 laps!

There are too many pictures to show here so check out their Facebook page for more. We’ll keep an eye out for the videos and share those with you when we get them as well.

The ski resorts have a really big weekend coming with Martin Luther King Day one week from today, January 20th.  This weekend and President’s Day weekend are the 2 biggest of the year for the resorts.  For that, and given that we might get some snow on Wednesday, I thought this would be a good time to roundup some of the midweek specials at the resorts for you.

First off, Canaan which has a Cabin & Cottage package – stay in a cabin or cottage mid-week and either get your 3rd night free or get 50% off your second night.  Wintergreen has a midweek learn to ski and snowboard package for $34.95 which includes a beginner lift ticket, rental, and lesson.  Cataloochee has a $29 midweek learn to ski and snowboard package which includes a day or twilight ticket, rentals, and a 1 ½ hour lesson.   This deal is only available through Liftopia.  And don’t forget about Winterplace’s Weekly Contest where every Monday they pick a name from the hat where you’ll get free tickets, rentals, & lessons up to a family of 6 for any 2 day weekend.  Entry form is here.

It’s a relatively quiet Monday at the resorts today.  They will be doing all they can to get ready for the weekend.  Back in my days of being a rental tech, we always sold out of skis and snowboards this weekend and the lodging around the mountain resorts will be pretty booked up, if not already.

You guys take care today and try to get out this week if possible!
