HUGE TICKET GIVEAWAY IS JUST A HOUR OR SO AWAY — Stay tuned and we’ll be announcing another MASSIVE FREE LIFT PASS GIVEAWAY!

We continue to tweak the website for your viewing pleasure!  Today we added a few new navigational features that will enhance your visit with us.  We have segregated all of the Photos of the Day so that you can view JUST the resort that you want to see photos for…and of course you can still see all of them in one location.  We still have some six weeks of ski season left and we have posted more images already this season that we did for ALL of last season!  The page that held those image links had grown too huge to effectively use so we changed things around a little bit.

There are three ways to get to all of the images.  You can click on the Photo of the Day at the top of the front page and there are links to all of the individual ski areas, as well as some assorted links that we created for your pleasure.

You can also click on the Photo of the Day icon in the far right column of the front page and get to that same multi link page.

The third way is to click on the resort link in the far right column and you will see a new Photos of the Day icon for each resort.  (Some are being added this morning, but by mid-day you’ll be able to visit your favorite resort page and see photos from the whole season, just for that resort!) For example, if you click on the link to Appalachian Ski Mountain, you will then see a Photos of the Day icon on their summary page, along with weather data, ski conditions, lodging recommendations and more!  Click on the Photos of the Day link and you will ONLY see images from this season for Appalachian Ski Mountain.  No more scrolling through all of the resorts just to see ones you are looking for.

The Photos of the Day and Archived Articles “Tell the Story of this Season!”

When we were reworking the Photos and Article Archives features, we noticed that you can look through articles from at any point in the season…as well as look at photos during any point in the season and you can get an accurate picture of what this ski season has been like.  You can’t get that anywhere else!  Be prepared to spend a lot of time…it’s kind of addicting!

Also, EVERY SINGLE WORD of every single day’s entries can be viewed.  We haven’t deleted any!  It’s pretty cool to look back already this season. By the way we have MOST all of last season’s articles archived as well.  It makes for some pretty decent reading, particularly if you’re interested in the “ride” that each season takes us on.  It’s almost like a diary.  It will pretty neat to go back ten years at some point!

The conditions are pretty sweet for obvious reasons.  Lots of snow and more trails open right now than at any point in the season.  Check out the slope conditions and hit the trails.  One quick note – If you have a chance, skip up to Hawksnest Ski Resort tonight and do some great skiing, and support the Watauga Education Foundation. Hawksnest will be donating the proceeds from lift tickets, rentals and snow tubing tickets to the Watauga Education Foundation. Night lift tickets will be discounted to $12 and snowtubing will be $15 for a 1 hour 50 minute session. Snowtubing sessions will start at 3pm, 5pm and 7pm. They will also be having FREE beginner lessons for skiers or snow boarders at 6:15pm and 7:30pm. Go out and show your support for the WATAUGA EDUCATION FOUNDATION!

Congratulations to Jake Parrish (one of the youngsters that SkiNC / SkiSoutheast Sponsors):

Jake Parrish, age 14 and part of Team SkiNC has been diligently keeping us posted during the race season about how he’s been doing and this young man finished second in his class this past weekend during the High Country Junior Race Series event at Appalachian Ski Mountain.  This past Sunday was the Championship race at App and that second place finish gave him the overall championship for the season in his division ( the 13-14 year olds). On the season he had two 1st place finishes and three 2nd place finishes.  Jake is hoping that his results will qualify him for the Nationals in Colorado.  Jake will find that out on February 22nd.

Jake has been representin’ SkiNC as he has worn his SKINC Tee to all events and submitted several photos.  We’ve posted two here.  Congratulations again Jake.

We also sponsor snowboarding phenom Lindsea Lumpkin who competes both here in NC and across the country in finals.

Until Next Time!
