The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard
The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.
We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

Beginner - Need advice on ladies snowboards

This will be my 3rd season snowboarding (snowboarding 2 or 3 times each winter). I've been renting and have decided it is time to buy my own. Going by the boards I've rented, my size is a 149. I will most likely be buying used and would prefer not to spend a lot since it is my first board. So which boards do you recommend for a beginner?

Craigslist is great for gear. Also check with rental shops for last years demos on sale

I live in Knoxville so my husband and I can run up to Ober after work for a night ride during the week and last year we made it to Sugar for a weekend trip. I'm hoping this year we can get to Beech and maybe back to Sugar once. We'll see.

I have a Roxy Ollie Pop and would marry it if it was legal. This is a twin tipped park board. Park boards are good for beginners because they are soft and flexy. Plus when riding small hills, park may be where you progress to. Mine has flex and pop like I never had before. The board is soft and small enough for my small girl body.
The Roxy snowboards are very women specific. They are excellent for smaller women. The Roxy Ollie pop is my favorite snowboard. I have demoed others and owned 2 other brands of women specific boards.
Roxy is known for clothing, but the snowboards are made by Mervin Manufacturing. This company is highly reputable. They make other good quality boards, like Gnu and Lib Tech.
You should select your the length depending on each individual board's size charts. Different boards have different size recommendations.
Out of the women's boards I have demoed, I liked Never Summer too. Also Burton makes lots of different women specific models.
I bought my board on Ebay. It was not used but from the previous season. Previous season boards are usually 50 percent off from the retail price.

welcome to the board. having your own gear will help you....big time. you can focus more on boarding rather than getting the right adjustments.
