I'll grant you the brats (hope they were beer boiled) but wintergreen over Wasatch? Was there a little something extra in your coffee this morning?

Good pix by the way. the rentals are perfect for the grass spot on the right.

oh yes, the rentals also came in handy for this little patch on lower diamond hill.

in all fairness, though, this trail was closed.

moreover, the rentals gave me a chance to fit in with all these people skiing down dobie .. over and over .. scared of the highlands:

don't get me wrong, though. i was impressed with the run length in the highlands at wintergreen. they're having an off year. and so is the rest of the southeast. this is when shenanigans at the checkerberry come in handy.

peace out.

Nice pics.

I'd like to check out Wintergreen but that photo of Upper Cliff Hanger may be of the most over rated double diamond in the country. Is there anything steeper than that???

I had a lot of fun trying to stay up and get tricky on an icy Upper Cliffhanger all day. That photo doesn't do the top of this trail justice because of the lack of contrast between the top and mid-slope. -BUT- it is a very short stretch of steepness that approximates the steepness on the tope of Eagle's Swoop on the other side of the mtn. The huge draw of these highlands, though, is the LENGTH of the run. Definitely wait until Outer Limits is open though, in which case, you'll have three runs to choose from at the top.

Whoah... that is considered Double Black?

Someone needs to get their trail rating skills checked.

photos are misleading since they are usually axially directed with the slope instead of the horizon. the area of the slope above where the pic was taken, skier left, is the most steep, and then the lower middle-right also (over the hump in the middle of the screen). like all the slopes at WG, it is wide enough that you can choose a fall line that fits your style. its a nice black, but probably can be their most difficult slope when icey so they can call it *their* double black. I think the upper left and lower middle-right compare to roughly to the top of sugar, but have not been there in years.

With good snow, this slope, and to the left are turkey and outer limits, are the most fun in the region imho. the bottom of sunrise is also a little tricky with sheer ice as it was saturday night.

it is nice to have these slopes at ~1000' vert instead of ~300'. i was experiencing some significant thigh burn by saturday night.

my 10 year old daughter has navigated upper cliff.
