Weiss Knob ski area was located in Davis, West Virginia on WV 32 just east of Canaan Valley. Weiss Knob was situated at 3,900 feet above sea level with a vertical drop of 625 feet.

This ski area was built by the Washington DC Ski Club in the mid 1950’s. Offering four rope tows and artificial snow making, the ski area was groomed using a Bombardier Snow Tractor. National Ski Patrol was present at Weiss Knob on the weekends and had a warming hut with a snack bar and small ski shop offering basic equipment.

Weiss Knob eventually closed as a result of much larger Canaan Valley opening in 1972. The lifts, including a 1,100 foot Ski-Kuli t-bar were removed and the area now operates as White Grass Touring Center which is a popular cross-country skiing destination.

White Grass has 50 kilometers of trails, 25 of which are groomed, with a 1,196 foot vertical drop.
