Coonskin Park ski area was located in Coonskin Park, West Virginia, just three miles northeast of Charleston.

Coonskin Park operated from 1968 to 1980 and closed in 1981. With a base elevation of 725 feet and the top reaching only 850 feet and offering 125 feet of vertical, it’s safe to say the terrain was pretty mellow.

Coonskin Park was serviced by one truck powered rope tow. Not only could you hit the slope and do a little easy skiing, ice skating, sledding, and tobogganing were also available.

If you have any information or photos about this ski area, post here or drop us an email at [email protected]. I'm pretty sure the actual slope was to the left as soon as you enter the park. Really mellow if it was.
