The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

I caused this. Every other year I've gone west in December before Christmas. This year I decided to go to Snowshoe December 19-22. I guess I can work on my tan. And I've never really spent much time on the Skidder lift before. Should be special :)

GFS Runs are beginning to show frozen precip sliding through on the 21st and 22nd. The moisture is westerly, so maybe not too plentiful. But on the Christmas Eve, you can see precip crawling in from the SW. If it can stay cold enough (and from the run, looks like snow in Alabama first, so should definitely be cold enough for snow in WNC), a southwesterly moisture jet could create a big dump.

It's a long ways out, but here's to hoping.

I would take a forecast from the GFS for 13-14 days out with a HUGE grain of salt. Especially when you compare it with the ensembles.

10-4. Huge grain of salt taken.

Tastes like hope.

OK I don't completely understand it but that is the scariest cartoon I have ever seen, there should be a warning or something... evil animation

Why did I gloat over our prospects in September? ..and called out the PNW, shame

This Winter was way too short,a mini ice age would really be nice but it's only wishful thinking! :x
