The ensembles are hinting at a cooler pattern possibly by the second week of October. And by cooler I mean back to normal for this time of year. Until then though, summer continues.

A few more days of summer. Fall finally arrives on Saturday and it looks like we'll be done with the heat.

Anything in the long range looking cool enough for resorts to start testing out their snow making equipment? Also is this drought having any effect on pond reserves for snowmaking?

I think the mountains are doing a bit better than the foothills and points west, but I am sure could use some rain.

Just pulled this up, it’s worse that way than I thought, hopefully it won’t slow anything down for early season starts!

I think most everyone in NC except Beech operates from pond resovoirs. So it doesnt take much of a favorable rainy pattern to resupply the tanks. I believe Beech operates off the municipal supply but is given operating exemptions. But drought may still affect their water capabilities... it seems to have been an issue in thebpast but that is just guessing.
