The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

hey all,

moved down south last year from la-la land, smell-a, lost angeles, pick your favorite - anyway, seeing cataloochee's equipment improvements and reputation for consistent snow making, is is safe to think that as long as the temps regularly stay below the 50's above 2,500 feet, that any of the NC ski mountains will keep a manageable base b/c of their dedication to snow making?

I have culled some great input and advice on which mountains take their snowmaking and grooming seriously, and am grateful to have found this site ( a sister to my beloved skisocal.com)

at the end of the day, skiing in the south is a lot like skiing in southern california and surfing - watch the weather, chase conditions, drive like hell, enjoy every minute

thanks and greetings to all

Welcome to the board! Quite a few of us make regular trips up to the mountains so keep an eye out on here to see who's going where when.

^What Stealth said. Welcome and where did you ski or ride in SoCal? I'm from OC and miss it out there.
