The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

We started the new thread a couple of weeks ago announcing the idea and need of a new THREAD, but the whole reason for the thread is because we have now debuted a new www.HighCountryWeather.com website. There's still a couple of things that our programmers are working on such as the interactive map on the front, etc - however for the most part the new website is ready for primetime!

You'll note that we're covering the entire southeast and mid Atlantic region and we'll be adding at least four additional reporting stations very soon. Now that we have collaborated data pulls for the current station locations, we are working with the IT people at all of the ski areas in an effort to tweak the data that we're now sharing via the new website to reflect 100% of the actual weather content (temps, winds, wind chills, etc) FROM the mountain locations. We had to get the new website shares online and broadcasting first. Now that we've accomplished that, you will notice subtle but very important changes over the next two weeks to pull directly from the mountain sources EVEN MORE accurate real time data.

We're pretty excited that the old website, with junked up content is now already well ranked on Google for most all of the resort, weather searches and that is already providing nearly 1000 unique visitors per day to the website. We have a communications campaign going right now that will see that traffic rocket HUGE visitor totals as soon as the next couple of weeks. We are promoting the "Weather Forum" via the site in an attempt to see our SkiSoutheast messageboard membership rise to even more impressive numbers.

We are currently working that same synergy with our www.HighCountryWebCams.com website which is ALREADY receiving more than 8000 unique visitors a day. Last winter we saw HCW's traffic soar to as many as 68,000 visitors in one day and an average of more than 15,000 unique visitors a day. Combined with the SkiNC and SkiSoutheast web presence, this creates a three-pronged marketing effort to attract every snow lover in the Southeast and Mid Atlantic and we're thinking that you guys will see a rise in members to the messageboard.

Treat them nice because we ALL have the same love of the mountains and snow as a commonality.

Keep you eyes on the sites as we kick start everything. We already are meshing the content push TO HighCountryWeather.com from SkiSoutheast and HighCountryWebCams and we think you'll enjoy getting THE most accurate weather content and more only one click away from SkiSoutheast...all in one convenient visit.

Looks cool Mike, the one thing I noticed right off was a Webcam at Ober, very nice.... but there is a typo under it saying "view live images of Snowshoe."

Just to let you know.

Hopefully they will change the Ober view from the waterslide to the mountain once winter actually gets here.

The shoe looks good with the dusting they got this morning. The site looks good, I'm glad we've got all the new camaras to look at now.
