5am left my residence to celebrate the day of presidents. 36 on the mtn when we got there and 36 when we left. pretty windy. the runs, due to the traffic going thru them were never the same thing twice which made things interesting, a soft fluffy patch might be more icy and vice versa. spent most of the day lapping upper omg.
not very crowded for a holiday. maybe the rain that was forecasted earlier scared people off. goober factor was exceedingly high. every one was new. many of them not in control. lots of adults wiping out hard. saw ski patrol working on people 3 times in 5 hrs. given that there were far less people here for this than for when we went on ff day it was a pretty high percentage.
the smokies in the back ground
still loads of base, still almost to the top of the snow guns

Upper O is looking good. It's been nice all year. Usually the best snow on the mountain after a day of crowds pushing Rock Island and Lower O off to the edges. I'd planned to get up there this week and last, but can't get excited about night skiing in the rain
