I know COVID has impacted everything and everyone differently, but is it people aren’t working or now in-person school? As mentioned above, random weekdays are beyond normal holiday weekend crowds. It’s not been fun...
1) Good snow conditions
2) Pent up demand after no vacations all summer.
3) People can drive here and don't have to fly.
WOOOOOO!

Happy the resorts are making money after the last few dismal seasons, the crowds are ridiculous though.
Well criminal Costin at Beech dropped his base camera off the website altogether, most likely due to the crowds at the bottom. He and Gunther are very lucky the health department and sheriff have not shut them down for not following and maintaining Covid state rules. Just about every other business in the state has had to follow them, except the ski areas.

Not accurate. Every time I have been to any resort in our region, face coverings have been enforced with zero tolerance. I have seen non-compliant customers escorted off by security and PD at literally every resort. From my experience App, Cat, Beech, and Sugar have all done good jobs enforcing Covid-19 regulations including the current Stay at Home order. It is also not a "criminal" offense to install a new webcam despite your pre-conceived opinion. Posts like yours are part of the problem not the solution. I have many friends that work in the industry. If you knew what resorts dealt with on a daily basis to ensure that we even have a ski season maybe you wouldn't be so quick to spread misinformation. Every resort has also limited capacity and virtually sold out every day. If crowds bother you, maybe stay away from ski areas for the time being. The problem is people traveling when they shouldn't, kids aren't in school (at least not full time), people are working from home, people have zero regard for Covid-19 restrictions in NC (or anywhere really), are entitled, and have plenty of free time. The blame needs to be placed where it is due which is on the "customers" not following restrictions, not the businesses.

Wolf Ridge is never crowded on weekdays and usually not too bad on weekends. Check their webcam.

I wouldn't agree with most of your opinions either. Have you seen the crowds on weekends? They are worse than ever, especially at Beech and Sugar.. This is not limited capacity! Resorts may be removing a few of the worst of the worst guests, but in general they are not kicking out enough customers that are not following the rules and are not respecting fellow skiers that are attempting to follow the rules. I do agree with you that there are too many people not following the rules, but it's the resorts responsibility to remove these people. If they can't control their customers, then maybe they should scale back even further or maybe they shouldn't be open. There are plenty of other businesses in the pandemic that have been forced to scale back or shut down due to the NC rules and the resorts should have to follow the same rules as well.

No, the webcam thing is super sketchy. Sugar is my closest drive, and I am watching the webcams daily from opening day on. WELL before they installed the new webcam, they tilted them both up 10 degrees (including the one not replaced) to ensure you couldn't see how crowded it is.

I'm not saying they are hiding themselves breaking the law, not enforcing the mask policy, etc - on the contrary, already been there 6 days this season, and they were enforcing the mask policy in line every time I was there. But they are absolutely trying to make out-of-towners/single-trip-a-year folks who don't read this forum and just look at the website think the slopes aren't crowded, so they wont be scared off and commit to their winter vacation.

Enforcing the mask policy doesn't cost them any money; people balking at driving up because it's a cluster-f**k DOES cost them money. There's no grand conspiracy going on, it's business.

We need a crowd report thread? I’m not riding up there again until it calms down. I’m not as concerned about masks as I am the crowds on these narrow slopes are dangerous. That northridge switchback at sugar has been super sketch with all the crowds. One falls and 12 stop across the entire trail to help...

Then don't go? What else do you want to hear? Both resorts you mentioned saw record crowds this summer too. All resorts have limited their capacity significantly per regulations. If you think that number should be even smaller, stay away until it's conducive to whatever you are comfortable with

Honestly expect every weekend to be similar to the crowds over MLK. Go during the week if you can, otherwise expect lines. Is what it is until people have to return to a normal work/school schedule.

Not to be a broken record but just don't go on a weekend? If you aren't comfortable with the amount of people there then try to go during the week. Or you can just continue to go on a weekend when it's busy and keep complaining. Is what it is. Good conditions and people don't have to work.
