I have some extended family that have never experienced snow coming in in January. I'm going to have them spend a couple of days at Cataloochee in group lessons and then on their own. It's a couple of nephews, so I expect they'll choose snowboarding. If they catch on well enough, I'm going to offer them a couple of days at Appalachian.

I'd also like to offer them and the rest of the family coming with them snow tubing. I've been snow tubing at Massanutten about 20 years ago on really great long runs, so my one time at Tony's in Maggie Valley and once at Wolf Laurel, each more than 15 years ago were kind of underwhelming due to the really short runs.

What's the best snow tubing place in Western North Carolina right now? I've heard good things about Hawks Nest but haven't been there since it changed to tubing only (I did ski there several times while I was in college a long time ago).

Is there anywhere that has long runs with multiple drops?

Thanks,
dj
