I know there is plenty of experience at Loveland on SkiSE. Which lifts normally open from the start?

Might actually ski at Loveland in February if everything works out. So paying a bit more attention than usual.

Not thinking about Feb. I tend to start watching snow conditions for any new place long before a planned ski trip. Got curious as Loveland gets closer to opening. Colorado weather hasn't been particularly good for snowmaking the last few weeks.

At that altitude, not interested in hiking much. Plus likely to be skiing Loveland the day before I fly home. Just want to check it out a bit. If everything goes according to plan my friends and I are heading to Wolf Creek and Monarch before spending a couple nights in Dillon. It's the tail end of a trip to Taos.

If we decide to make it a short day in order to get to Denver before dark, would it be worth going all the way over to Lift 8? We'll be there midweek so hopefully pretty empty.

Getting up Lift 9 is certainly part of the plan.

If I remember Loveland right you should be able to go anywhere in the area and get back to the base area fairly easy. Its been a long time since I've been there as I usually go over the pass to A Basin.Abasin is the same as well. You have the interstate literally right under you so getting back to DIA is a breeze. I cant count the times I would ski half a day at the basin and drive back to the airport for a 7pm flight and never have an issue.
Loveland is a cool laid back area with a good vibe. You wont be disappointed .
I used to plan my trips and flights to allow me to ski frim the time I'd land till the plane left the ground. Now I have a wife and daughter and making plans like that is very difficult.

I'm actually more interested in going to ABasin but my friends are intent on checking out Loveland. Since I haven't skied Loveland at all, that's okay with me. Although if it's a low visibility day, we'll be at ABasin. One friend really needs trees when everything is in a fog.

We aren't really in a rush getting to Denver because we're staying overnight and flying out in the morning. I'm on the non-stop SW flight. Certainly hope they don't cancel it. Have had a couple flights completely scrambled as SW trims the schedule. Can still get where I want but barely and with schedules that mean arriving quite late at night out west.

One reason I prefer ABasin this time is that I have Ikon. But happy to buy a day ticket at Loveland if we can see the views.

Skied ABasin once but only half day. It was on the way from Denver to Aspen. We wanted to get to Carbondale before dark. With the high altitude and it being the first day skiing for a few weeks, it was a little tough. That's one reason I'd like to go back. The other is that the relatively new tree skiing sounds like a lot of fun.

Good to know. Hard to spend any money for a Loveland 4-pak when I'm not 100% sure my friends and I will make it there.

Our trip is supposed to start in NM. Happens to be the only state out west with travel restrictions. If what is in place right now stays in place, then we might cancel out completely.
