Beech just put out they're really upping their pumping capacity this year.

Faster refill rates should mean more firepower overnight, fewer slowdowns to refill the pond during prolonged cold (fingers crossed!) and generally more snow faster.

Just their new fanguns alone can move almost 2,000 gallons per minute at startup.

Always wondered why on the large fan guns only a percentage of nozzles would be working(even in optimal conditions)I guess moving water was their weak link. Should be interesting this year.

I hope it enables them to get white lightning open sooner... I dont think it got open at all last year.

They say they have 75 fan guns. At 24 GPM, say above 24 wetbulb, that's 1800 gpm plus the ground guns, at least a couple hundred more.

In 15 degree weather, though, running every fan at 100% with no ground guns at all is still more than the new transfer pumps can handle. I don't know how much they can actually put on the hill from their holding pond, or how big the holding pond is, but if they get a sustained cold spell then they can keep more guns running longer now.

If that doesn't translate into better coverage sooner, I'd be shocked. Unless we have a lot of warm weather, anyway.

I believe the new upgrades will allow them to pump water from the reservoirs near the rec center.

This should give them access to much more water than was available last year.

Maybe this year we will be able to ski on the elusive Oz Run. It's been a while since I've been able to lay my skis on that one!
