Good morning, guys! My week is already off to a great start because it'll be ending with Snowshoe Mountain. I hope that's true for many of you too, and if not Snowshoe, then another resort of your choice. This weekend should be yet another great time to be on the slopes. The weather forecast is pretty jam-packed between now and then with snow, weather advisories, and more.

One of our trusted weather gurus covering Southwest NC, Local Yokel Weather, posted on Twitter recently that it's going to be a "great setup for snow this weekend for Cataloochee, Beech, Sugar, and App." Well, you can extend that sentence and insert the rest of our southeastern resorts in there, as well. We're going to freeze out February and ride right into March.

Chief Meteorologist for WUSA 9, Topper Shutt, tweeted a "fun weather fact" this morning. "On this day in 1914 there was the biggest snow storm in SC. 18" fell at Society Hill." Doesn't really pertain to our region nor its slopes, but it's interesting nevertheless, and shows that winter doesn't read the rules and sticks around for as long as he pleases. You might as well throw your calendar out the window and replace it with a thermometer. Numbers don't lie.

Neither do we when we tell you there are plenty of good deals out there right now. You just have to find them, or leave it to SkiSoutheast to help you. Winterplace is offering a "buy one, get one free" lift ticket to all its Facebook friends. They're valid Monday through Thursday from now until March 7. You can go to their page and click on the link to get your coupon.

They're also in the midst of giving away a set of lift tickets. The winner will actually have a choice between skiing with rental equipment or snow tubing tickets. The drawing is happening tonight so you better hurry over to their Facebook page and enter!

"Only four days left until we kick-off our Armed Forces Winter Salute! Join us as we recognize all branches of the military in this three-day event that is jam-packed with fun for all ages. Modified slalom races, après-ski events, and topping it off is a live concert in our Village plaza headlined by Uncle Kracker." This is what's in store for anyone at Snowshoe this weekend. I can hardly wait.

The official summit was canceled this year, but there are plenty of peeps who aren't letting our dismal announcement get in the way of their fun. If you can make do without the discount, get on the phone and make your reservation! The only other potential bump in the road is "full occupancy." Friday when our office was making our arrangements, Snowshoe was booked at 95%. However, even if that's the case, you can certainly look into other accommodations or make a day trip.

The next six days are going to be epic… or dynamic at the least. You might as well leave our website up and come back to hit refresh every now and then. If nothing else, stay up to date by following us on Twitter, and then you'll know if you need to pull up SkiSoutheast in the meantime. We'll be on snow watch and with every resort a site to see, we will let you know which way to turn your heads.
