Here we go.

The 2021-22 season resumes today as the mountains are alive with that roaring sound of snowmaking this morning.

Seven resorts cranked up snowmaking operations overnight and they look to take advantage of several snowmaking windows over the next week.

Those resorts include Sugar Mountain – which has resumed ski and snowboarding operations this morning after a brief two-day pause.

Sugar is playing from the top on four slopes, and they are reporting an 8-22″ base. Snowmaking is ongoing, and they are reporting some possible thin areas.

Other resorts that have resumed snowmaking operations include App Ski Mountain, Beech Mountain, Cataloochee, Snowshoe, Timberline, and Winterplace.

It looks like a manmade blizzard at those resorts over on Resortcams.com.

Cataloochee is slated to join Sugar Mountain tomorrow amongst the ranks of the open resorts, while Snowshoe is set to drop the rope next Wednesday.

Beech Mountain has announced they are currently planning to open a week from tomorrow. We are still waiting on opening dates from App Ski, Timberline, and Winterplace.

I would expect we will hear some opening updates from App Ski over the weekend.

The next 7-10 days look really promising as our Brad Panovich dropped by last night to share his latest skier’s forecast.

Sounds pretty good to me – especially the forecast at the West Virginia resorts.

That does it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow!
