Happy New Year from family to yours!

I hope you had a safe and fun start to the new decade. The last day of 2019 was a productive one on the slopes as most resorts were able to make snow to help refreshen conditions and skier traffic looked really healthy to cap off the busy stretch between Christmas and New Years.

Today’s featured photo is from Mike at Snowshoe this morning. It’s a travel day for Mike and his party, but keep an eye out for more photos, videos and trip report in the coming days.

2020 is off to a fast start with cold and snowmaking and there is some natural snow in the forecast this weekend.

The celebrations at the resorts were also a blast as they welcomed the new year in. Kenny shared this photo from the Village at Snowshoe last night.

Ober Gatlinburg’s party had a little bit of everything – including an engagement.

Congrats to the happy couple – awesome stuff! Wintergreen celebrated with a firework show on the slopes and shared part of it to Facebook.

Another cool recap post of 2019 came from Snowshoe Mountain as they took a look at their best photos of the year.

While we were celebrating the arrival of the new year, the mountain ops crews were hard at work putting down some serious snow on the slopes.

Nearly every resort was able to make snow at some point in the past 24 hours – with the northern resorts being able to make snow the entire time.

It is crazy to see how much conditions improved in a day.

Snowmaking will continue today as long as conditions allow before being shut down sometime tomorrow.

For the latest conditions, head over to the Snow Reports page.

The first day of the new decade is going to be windy and cold, but conditions should be really good.

In addition to the featured photo, here are a couple more photos that Mike sent from Snowshoe this morning.

Things are looking pretty sweet on the slopes. Today will be the best day of the rest of the week as rain will move in Thursday and Friday. On the bright side, however, is that it could end as snow this weekend.

It is something we will certainly keep an eye on in the next couple of days.

That is it for me today. Until next time, #ThinkSnow!
