Wild Thing Weekend at Canaan Valley

This annual event includes various contest, races, cook-outs, live entertainment, and “The Infamous Pond Jump”. Let’s get “WILD” this weekend.
Weekend Event Schedule

Friday, March 5:

1pm – 8pm: Museum Open – “History Of Skiing at Canaan Valley” (Bear Paw/Ski Area)

6:30pm: Rail Jam sponsored by Highland Prospects. Lift ticket rates are $12 (no registration fee).

Saturday, March 6:

9am – 2pm: Event Registration & Free Face Painting (Bear Paw / Ski Area)
9am – 8pm: Museum Open – “History Of Skiing at Canaan Valley” (Bear Paw/Ski Area)
10am – 2pm: DJ Entertainment
*10am: Lollipop Race (children ages 4-12)
*11am: Saucer Races (child / adult age divisions)
*11am: Boardercross Race (ski & snowboard divisions; Ages 15-under; Ages 16+)
11am – 2pm: Outdoor Cookout (weather dependent)
12:30pm: Frozen T-Shirt Contest
*1pm: Hot Dog Eating Contest
*1:30pm: Hot Wings Eating contest
*2pm: Infamous Pond Jump (minimum age: 13; tubes, skis or snowboard)
3pm : Awards Ceremony
4pm – 6pm: Governor’s Cup Awards Reception- $6 fee to attend reception. Cash bar. Open to the public (light hors d’oeuvres).
5pm – 9pm: Buffet Dinner @ Hickory Dining Room (Main Lodge)
7pm – 10pm: Ice Skating & Smores ($10 per person, includes skate rental).
9pm – 1am: DJ Entertainment (Laurel Lounge/Main Lodge)
Prizes awarded for above events.
*All above events require release forms to be signed prior to participation. If you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian will need to be present to sign form.

Sunday, March 7:

9am – 4:30pm: Museum Open – “History Of Skiing at Canaan Valley” (Bear Paw/Ski Area)
10am – 12pm: Airboard Demos ($5 per person)
12pm – 1pm: Airboard Race (must have current airboard license to participate). $10 registration fee.
