Burton Kid’s Snowboard Camp

Feb 11, 2017 - Feb 12, 2017

Mountaineer Parks and Burton Snowboards are ready and waiting up at Snowshoe Mountain for a total takeover by little shredders! The 3rd annual Burton Kid’s Snowboard Camp is going to be a rippin’ good time and we’re calling all riders ages 4-12 to come on up and ride!  Whether you’re a first time snowboarder, or charging it in the park, we’ve got a team of coaches stoked to help you experience snowboarding like never before!  This camp is busting at the seams with fun; 2 full days of snowboarding, expert coaching, a pizza party, Burton swag, even an ice cream social.  Want to show off all that style?  Enter Mountaineer Parks Progression Session park competition and show the Mountain what you’ve got! (Entry in the competition is available at a discounted rate to all camp participants).  Come on up snowboarders – and make our mountain your mountain!

Burton Kids Snowboard Camp – $229+ tax
Burton Kids Snowboard Camp Package (2 day lift ticket & rentals included) – $299 + tax

Ability levels:  First timers through advanced/expert terrain

Check in/out: Campers accompanied by parents will meet their coaches both days of camp at the Big Top; check in promptly at 8:30 and check out at 4:00pm. An adult guardian must be present at check in and check out.  Children should come ready to hit the snow, properly dressed and with snowboard equipment.

Rentals: We highly recommend picking up rental equipment the night before the camp. If this is not possible please arrive at rentals an hour before camp begins – the rental process can take time.

Helmets: We’re all about fun AND safety at Snowshoe. All camp participants are required to wear a helmet which is included in all rental packages.

Dress: Acceptable dress is required to participate in camp. Please dress children in layers with the outer layer being waterproof. Children need waterproof/resistant mittens or gloves, goggles, a hat that fits under a helmet, and a neck up. Wet and cold is zero fun and it hampers the learning process. Being dressed properly is the first step to making a day on snow awesome.

Breaks: Coaches will ensure campers take adequate breaks; hot chocolate/water and snacks are provided during break times.

Lunch: Main courses include pizza or chicken fingers, with a side of mixed vegetable or fruit selection. If your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let their coach know at morning check-in and we will make arrangements to provide an alternative lunch.

Weather Conditions: We’re holding camp no matter what the weather throws at us. We’re pretty experienced at adapting to mountain weather, and we’ll provide extra breaks and indoor activities if the elements turn extreme.

Pizza Party: We’re throwing a Pizza Party Saturday night from 6:30 to 8:30. An adult guardian must accompany campers to the Big Top for check in and pick them up at the end of the party.

Progression Session Competition: Snowboarders love their freestyle, and we’ve got the perfect event for campers of all ability levels who want to give competition a try. Progression Session Jam is a learning based competition where participants are coached through the session to help take their riding to the next level.  Competitors are judged based on heart, attitude, dedication, and how far they progress individually from beginning to end of the event.

Grom Jam: A grom is a young participant in extreme sports. A jam format allows participants to do as many tricks as possible in an hour.  Burton Kids grom jam will include beginner features set up on Skidder slope exclusively for this event.  Snowshoe coaches will be present to assist groms and to teach them new tricks.  Participation is optional and all about fun and learning; everyone’s a winner!
