Cooler temperatures in Virginia’s Alleghany Mountains are making spring skiing a reality at The Homestead! The Virginia resort is reopening its ski area March 23-30 thanks to the extended winter-like weather forecast. The timing is perfect for families looking for a Spring Break or Easter vacation destination.

Recently named one of the Top 50 Ski Hotels in the United States and Canada by Conde Nast Traveler, The Homestead is known for its family-friendly atmosphere. The resort offers a wide array of activities including skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and swimming in a heated outdoor pool.

The resort’s popular Easter Escape package, available now through April 6, includes accommodations, breakfast in the Main Dining Room and an Easter basket. A full schedule of holiday activities, including The Homestead’s grand Easter Egg Hunt, will be available to guests staying March 29-31.

The Homestead made Southern skiing a reality in 1959, opening the region’s original downhill ski area. New this winter, The Homestead will offer the Southeast's only Rossignol Experience Center, featuring Rossignol's award-winning Experience skis with Auto Turn rocker and the latest ski innovations.  With more than 45 acres and nine well-maintained trails, the slopes are perfect for beginners and experienced skiers. The Homestead offers 100 percent snowmaking when natural snow isn’t available, rental equipment, “Little Penguins” day programs for children and private and group ski and snowboarding instruction at the Sepp Kober Snow Sports School. Also new this season is Allegheny Springs Winter Wonderland with both ice skating and swimming at one convenient location. Full-day and half-day ice skating passes as well as skate rentals are available.
