The Coldest Morning of the Season…and Brother it is Cold!

Sunday was a “snow globe” kind of day with snow swirling around and falling light-to-moderate most all day but not amounting to a lot anywhere in the region – with the exception of the WV resorts where 4″ fell at Canaan Valley and Timberline resorts. Snowshoe Mountain reported in with 5″ of new snow.

I mentioned this on Sunday, however it HAS been a snowy January thus far – even with the wild swings in temperatures. 22.7″ of snow has fallen at Davis, WV according to David Lesher’s Canaan Weather data website.

In fact, we’re seeing 6 of the the 16 member ski resorts with at least 40″ of natural snowfall on the season to date.

Check the SNOW REPORT for all the deets on trails open, snowfall per resort, etc.

Per that snowfall, the winds have made this another snowfall day where there is not much to show for the accumulations that fell.

I mentioned WV’s 4-5″ of snow, and snow did fall across much of the area with 1″ accumulating at Winterplace, 1-2″ at Beech Mountain, etc. (Again, you can get all the numbers for the last 24 hours AND for the season on our SNOW REPORT. You can count on those numbers being accurate for every resort in the region.)

Anyone Catch the Blood Wolf Moon?

It was pretty cloudy here last night as I was attempting to check it out. So I tuned in to Slooh and watched it. Kind of cool.
