Christmas Afternoon Snow!

It’s 3:50pm and the rain of earlier has turned to SNOW across the highest elevations!  We have already received photos and emails (Thanks Tommy Miller) of the snows that began falling a short time ago.  We were watching the new Beech Mountain Parkway cam when all of a sudden it was as if the bottom dropped and the snow really began falling.  It has been a pretty yuck day to have been on the slopes thus far as some relatively moderate rain fell on and off.  I was taking out my Christmas Tree when some fairly significant rain hit…and now within just 30 minutes it’s all snow! Yahoo!

That will surely bring a smile to those that braved the elements and are on the slopes at Sugar, Beech and Hawksnest right now.  The snow should make it’s way on into Boone and Blowing Rock and of course up into Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland as the evening progresses. 2-4" of snow is expected to accumulate in the favorable areas and about one-inch elsewhere.

We’re seeing that White Christmas afterall!

Merry Christmas Everyone!
