This just came in from Tammy Brown at Cataloochee Ski Area:

Due to the severe weather in the upcoming forecast, including heavy rain and high winds, we are suspending operations and will not operate on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, November 29, 30 and December 1 and will reopen on Friday, December 2 at 9:00am.  Snowmaking temperatures return to the forecast on Thursday evening and we will begin snowmaking again at that time.

Our rental shop in Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski & Sports, will reopen on Friday as well.

2016-11-28-cat-swapRemember next Saturday and Sunday, December 3 & 4 marks our 4th Annual Cataloochee Ski & Snowboard Swap here at the area.  Sign up to bring your gently used winter clothing and used hardgoods to sell on both Saturday and Sunday, or shop for the best deals of the season on used equipment.  For more information, visit our website at www.cataloochee.com/swap.

2016-11-28-cat-can-u-skiAlso Sunday, December 4, is Can-U-Ski Food and Coat Drive for Haywood Christian Ministries.  24 cans of food or 2 winter jackets of any kind will get you your lift ticket on Sunday for free, it’s a $65 value.  Cans and coats should be dropped off at either the Ghost Town parking lot at the bottom of the hill or at Cataloochee Ski & Sports and you will receive your lift ticket there.  Those persons needing to rent equipment and get lessons will pay for those items at the ski area when they show their lift ticket.

We remind you to be aware of changing ski conditions and use caution.  Natural and manmade obstacles exist and snowmaking and grooming activities are routinely in progress. Please use control and ski or ride only on designated slopes and trails and please call this number anytime for current skiing conditions.

Don’t forget to join us on Facebook and Twitter and for our complete brochure right at your fingertips or to look for us on the web at www.Cataloochee.com  or visit www.kidsskifree.com for more information on our Kids Stay and Ski Free program.
