Ski area to open tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 17th!
Davis, W.Va. (December 2022) – Featuring skiing, tubing, ice-skating, and a host of Christmas- and New Year’s-focused events and activities – including a New Year’s Eve fireworks show – Canaan Valley Resort is the perfect winter wonderland in which to enjoy family and friends this holiday season.
“With the snow guns blazing and a little help from Mother Nature, Canaan Valley Resort is tuned up and ready to go for the holidays,” said Matt Baker, resort general manager. “From on-mountain activities, like skiing and tubing, to resort-centered events, like our holiday meals, New Year’s celebrations, and activities lineup, guests have all they want for a perfect winter get-away.”
Baker said the ski area is set to open Dec. 17 and should be in great condition for the holiday week. The resort will also host festive, family-centered activities throughout the Christmas and New Year’s holidays at the resort lodge from Dec. 22 through New Year’s Day.
Beginning Dec. 22, resort guests will enjoy ice skating on the outdoor rink, craft making opportunities, family game competitions and other activities. For those interested in a winter stroll through the park, the resort’s trail system offers miles of scenery in Canaan Valley’s unique high mountain valley ecosystem.
On both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the resort will host lavish buffet-style meals from 4-8pm. The Christmas Day menu features Prime Rib Au Jus, Garlic and Herb Roasted Pork Loin, Salmon Piccata, Lobster Bisque and a host of traditional sides, salads, soups, and desserts. On New Year’s Eve, the resort will offer both a family party and a more adult-focused celebration, as well as a grand fireworks display. The Family Party will take place from 8:00pm -12:30am in the resort’s Pine Room and features music by Barkley Entertainment, party favors and snacks, and a Sparkling Cider Toast at Midnight. The adult celebration begins at 9:30pm in the Laurel Lounge and features live entertainment from the Soda Pop Gypsies, dancing, Champagne Toast at Midnight, and adult beverages available for purchase throughout the evening. Between 11:30-Midnight, guests will enjoy a spectacular fireworks display over the valley floor.
