Oh my goodness, this weekend was fan-freaking-tastic.

We are coming off the best weekend of the season – and it wasn’t just because it was the Ski Southeast Summit weekend at Snowshoe. Conditions across the region were fantastic as several locations saw double-digit snow totals including 20” at 4848’.

The Cheat Mountain magic struck again over the weekend and our guy Brad Panovich nailed the forecast. Each day of the Summit had impeccable conditions, but I don’t think you could top yesterday’s First Tracks

Check out this video Kenny made of yesterday’s session.

First Tracks was a true highlight of the weekend, but the weekend was so great it was hard to have just one favorite part. By far, it was the best conditions of the season and honestly probably in several years.

A huge THANK YOU to Mike as well as the Snowshoe staff who put on this incredible event each and every year. It is certainly a season highlight.

Also, thank you to all those that attended this weekend. It was great to meet so many of you, and we are already looking forward to next year’s rendition.

Last but not least, thank you to our Ski Southeast team that helped with the various events this weekend. It was great to hang out with our crew in such a sweet environment.

Be on the lookout for more content throughout the week as we sift through the videos and photos that our staff took. If you attended and have some sweet shots and videos, be sure to send them my way at [email protected].

As we get our heads out of the clouds from the weekend, Mother Nature is going to try and rain on our parade a bit with some underdeveloped snow this week, we are keeping our eye on the later part of the week as cold and potential snow may arrive.

For the latest conditions, be sure to visit the Snow Reports page.

Conditions are still spectacular this morning nearly everywhere. Here are a few notables from around the region.

  • Of the open resorts, we have 83% open terrain. App Ski Mountain, Cataloochee, and Bryce are at that 100% open.
  • Reported conditions range from packed powder, groomed or loose and frozen granular. The slopes are in great shape today.
  • Wolf Ridge has suspended operations during the week this week. They will reopen on Friday, March 6.
  • Ski Sapphire Valley is taking advantage of the February weather and have extended their season for one more weekend. Conditions will be pretty sweet this weekend.
  • The Omni Homestead did wrap up their 2019-20 season on Sunday. Talk about going out in style.

That does it for today but stay tuned for more content from the weekend and keeping an eye on the end of the week over on our social media.

Until next time, #ThinkSnow!
