This morning’s light fog makes it 16 for 22 for August fogs to date.

Your perspective on how to count fogs this morning – at least here in the High Country – could have been determined by where you were on NC Hwy 105 South. Around Tynecastle in Banner Elk, it was moderately raining. Down around the entrance to Seven Devils is was misting rain and a little foggy.

As I pulled into my office parking lot this morning in Foscoe, there was no rain falling and very little fog. However, as I looked back towards Boone/Hound Ears, it was pretty foggy across the highway. I decided to fly the drone to catch a quick clip of it and by the time I got it in the air (only about five minutes passed), it was more low-hanging cloud cover than fog.

However, this morning’s light fog makes it 16 for the first 22 days of August that we’ve had some measure of fog.

Check back soon for updates and more news as we get closer and closer to the start of the 2022-2023 Ski & Snowboarding season here in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic.
