August 13 Fog Report for the Mountains

As you can probably tell by the initial photo above, this morning’s fog bank was one of the more impressive ones I’ve seen in a couple of years from atop Hwy 105 near Smoketree Lodge heading towards Foscoe.

I heard from a few sources that there are others in the Valle Crucis area (other than the Mast General Stor) that have recorded (11) foggy mornings to date. To be honest, if you’ve been keeping a close eye on our daily updates, we’ve mentioned fog on 11 of 13 mornings. However, one was a really light fog that I felt was worthy of deleting or providing a slight “course correction” on and I eliminated it.

In addition to being very foggy thus far, it has also been quite warm, which is another bit of weatherlore support that is suggesting a snowy winter.

As of this morning, we’ll call it 10 for 13. Scroll below to see additional photos from this morning.

Here is the morning by morning report:

Totals: 10 for 13 (and only sharing the latest dailies)
Aug 13: Foggiest morning of August thus far.
Aug 12: Clear around the region except dense fog that settled in the valle.
Aug 11:Very foggy from atop Echota, near Foscoe and Seven Devils
Aug 10:Our Matt Laws said that it was very foggy pretty much for his entire trip in this morning.
Aug 9: Pretty foggy/
Aug 8: Light fog on the drive over from Elk River to Sugar and down 105

If you are into bears (as most of us mountain folk are), check out the bears we witnessed at our motel Friday afternoon and over the weekend.

Until tomorrow… email me at [email protected]
