Happy Thanksgiving-eve!

It is going to be a warmish couple of days over Thanksgiving break, but we certainly have a treat waiting for us on the other side of the holiday weekend.

Cataloochee is the lone resort open for play today as they are offering three trails serviced by two lifts. They are reporting an 8-12″ base with a frozen granular surface.

Sugar Mountain was forced to suspend operations after yesterday’s session, but they plan on opening back as soon as snowmaking and the weather allows.

Ma Nature is going throw us a curveball the next couple of days before hopefully sending us a pitch right over the plate.

Today is going to be mild and wet at times with some rain moving in area-wide. Thanksgiving Day and through the weekend are going to be on the mild side as well (we could maybe see some snowmaking on Saturday night but it is borderline right now), but the exciting stuff starts to happen early next week.

Simply, next week is shaping up to be awesome.

Temperatures will plummet as the pattern goes colder Sunday night and Monday meaning we will have a nice stretch of snowmaking.

The real treat? There is the potential for some natural snow that we are keeping an eye on.

Be sure to do your snow dances this weekend.

That will be it for today, but until next time, #ThinkSnow, #ThinkCold, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
